The Town Creek Baptist Church Christian Bass Anglers Club was formed by Christian fisherman to offer an opportunity to compete in Bass tournaments with a Christ-centered setting.

The clubs purpose is to promote Christian fellowship among believers and, by our lives and actions, to show the unsaved the love and saving power of Jesus Christ. It is our belief that as we participate together in these fishing tournaments we have an opportunity to promote the gospel of the saving grace of Jesus Christ to the unsaved and to encourage and strengthen believers through Christian fellowship. We are a "teaching" club, as we always share our secrets on how we catch our fish.

We are a group of Christian men, women and children gathering together from different local churches to participate in a Bass Fishing Tournament once a month. We have two divisions, adult and youth. The club has 11 tournaments a year, beginning in February and ending in December.  We use a running tally of individual points earned from each tournament and award the top anglers (Adult, Youth, and Big Fish) at our banquet held in January. The lakes we fish are Clarks Hill, Murray, Russell, Wateree, and Greenwood. Our normal tournament attendance ranges between 10 to 15 boats with 20 and 30 members fishing. We have a meeting the Thursday prior to each tournament. At our meetings we have prayer time, a short devotion, and then proceed with club business.

The club was founded in October of 1994 by a small group of men who had the desire to fish in a friendly wholesome competitive Christian atmosphere and serve as an outreach ministry. Another fishing club, Millbrook Christian Anglers, assisted with the establishment of the club. Original founding members that still fish with the club are Julian Thigpen, Mike Rose, Chris Rose, and Ronnie Bussey. The first tournament was held November 19, 1994 on Clarks Hill Lake at Fishing Village where Paul May finished in first place with 3 fish weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz. The Adult and Youth Anglers of the Year the first year were Roger Tate and Chris Rose respectively. The first Awards Banquet was held in November of 1995. The next year we added an annual retreat to our fishing schedule. In 2004 it was officially named the “Tommy Youngblood Memorial Fishing Classic” in memory of a club member tragically killed in an auto accident.

God has blessed us over the years with increased membership, enthusiasm to get youth hooked on the sport, and the desire to be better fishers of men.

God Bless
